The personal care positions have to do with the physical well being of the passengers and crew, and are often hired through official cruise line concessionaires. The medical, massage, fitness and salon departments are located within this category. The following jobs are common positions that are found in these departments. The positions are followed by a brief job description, job requirements, and compensation. Please note that compensation varies throughout cruise lines and the amounts stated here are meant to act simply as a reference. Beauty Therapist

A beauty therapist can provide an array of treatment. Duties can include one or more of the following services: hair styling, manicures, pedicures, facials and hair coloring.

Fitness Instructor

Fitness Instructors lead groups or individual clients in proper exercise whether it be weight lifting or an aerobic routine. The Fitness Instructor answers questions regarding work out routines, proper exercise and general health.

Hair Stylist

A hair stylist is a beauty therapist who specializes in what else..hair! The hair stylist has an eye for change and is very responsive to their client's requests. They perform hair coloring treatments, permanents, straightening treatments, conditioning treatments and style cuts.

Manicurist

A manicurist is a beauty therapist who can also be called a nail technician. The manicurist provides hand treatment to cuticles, skin and nails and instructs on proper care of the nails. In addition the manicurist provides nail color, tips and other decorative nail products.

Massage Therapist

The Massage Therapist is a favorite on a cruise and just about anywhere else. This position provides passengers with a variety of massage techniques: Swedish, Thai, Relaxation, Deep Tissue and Sport's Massage. In addition the Massage Therapist is in charge of keeping up with it's bookings and massage room, including cleanliness and equipment.

Nurse

Performs routine and emergency care to crew and passengers on board. The nurse is on call at all times and staffs the medical unit for long hours.

Physician

Responsible for all medical services provided on board. Performs routine and emergency care to crew and passengers on board. The cruise ship doctor is on call at all times. Performs emergency and routine surgical procedures.

Spa Attendant

The Spa Attendant greets and assists guests with any needs they may have for spa treatment (clean towels,water etc.) In addition the Spa Attendant can take care of bookings and reservations for spa treatments and answers phones.
